Develop brightening, even-tone and age-support skincare with a lipid-soluble vitamin C ester that fits oil phases, anhydrous systems and premium emulsions. This clear colorless-to-pale-yellow liquid gives formulators a practical alternative to strongly acidic, water-based L-ascorbic-acid architecture.

  • Oil-soluble liquid for facial oils, serums, emulsions, creams and lip-care concepts
  • Supports formulas designed for brighter, more even-looking skin
  • Useful in age-support products targeting the appearance of fine lines, smoothness and firmness
  • Paid development packs from 2 g to 250 g, with commercial quantities handled by inquiry

Key Benefits

Brighter, More Even-Looking Tone: Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate is commonly selected for brightening serums, creams and oils designed to improve the look of dullness and uneven tone. Human research on formulated vitamin C systems supports this development direction. [R7–R8].
Smoother-Looking Skin and Fine-Line Support: Use it in age-support formulas intended to improve the appearance of fine lines, surface smoothness and visual texture. Clinical studies have reported appearance improvements in multi-ingredient systems containing THD Ascorbate[R7–R8].
Firmer- and More Elastic-Looking Skin: THD Ascorbate can support product briefs focused on firmer- and more elastic-looking skin.
Antioxidant-Oriented Age-Support Formulation: Its oil-phase compatibility makes it useful in antioxidant-oriented skincare systems. Laboratory evidence also shows that THD Ascorbate can degrade under oxidative stress, so effective formulas should combine active selection with protective formulation, processing and packaging choices [R6].

Why Formulators Choose THD Ascorbate

  • Oil-phase flexibility: build facial oils, anhydrous serums and emulsions without trying to dissolve the active directly in water.
  • Less dependence on very low aqueous pH: water-containing systems can be screened in a milder pH window than classic L-ascorbic-acid formulas [R3, R5].
  • Premium sensory options: the liquid can be distributed through compatible emollients and oil phases for elegant oil-serum or emulsion concepts.
  • Clear trial-to-scale path: begin with a measured bench batch, compare active levels and packaging, then move to pilot or bulk purchasing after performance is verified.

Typical Applications

  • Anhydrous facial oils and oil serums
  • Emulsion serums, lotions, creams and moisturizers
  • Eye-area and lip-care formulas developed within applicable safety limits
  • Brightening and even-tone skincare concepts
  • Age-support formulas focused on fine lines, smoothness, firmness and elasticity
  • After-sun and daily environmental-stress skincare concepts

Quick Formulation Guide

Development field

Practical starting guidance

Bench-screening level

Begin around 2–3% [R3–R5].

Phase / solubility

Add through a compatible oil phase or oil-soluble premix; do not add directly to the water phase [R4–R5].

Finished-formula pH

For water-containing systems, screen about pH 3.5–6.0 [R3, R5]. pH is not a useful control for a purely anhydrous oil.

Processing

Minimize unnecessary prolonged heating and follow the selected grade's current technical data.

Stability design

Limit light, heat and repeated air exposure [R6].

Why Source From Us

  1. Start with samples scale to bulk orders – one supplier from trial to production: Validate with lab samples, then scale to commercial volumes – same quality, same team. No re-qualification, no project delays.
  2. Formulation support that actually helps – not just a data sheet: We give you hands-on guidance on solubility, temperature, pH, and compatibility. A real formulation partner, not a catalog.
  3. Reliable supply chain – consistent quality, on-time delivery, batch after batch: Own manufacturing facilities plus long-term partnerships with audited upstream producers ensure batch-to-batch consistency. Full documentation with every shipment. No "sample passes, bulk fails"
  4. Export-ready documentation – compliance, customs, cleared:Complete technical documentation packages – COA, MSDS, TDS, stability data – batch-specific and regulatory-ready. We handle the paperwork so your compliance and procurement teams can focus on formulation

Why it pairs well

Product concept

Compatibility note

Tocopherol / Vitamin E

Adds an oil-phase antioxidant partner and supports lipid-rich age-care concepts.

Anhydrous antioxidant facial oil or emulsion serum.

Screen oxidation, color and odor; do not assume automatic stabilization at every ratio.

Ubiquinone / Coenzyme Q10

Provides another oil-soluble active for antioxidant- and age-support product concepts.

Premium oil serum or nourishing night cream.

Manage combined oil-phase loading, color and solubility; confirm active recovery.

Niacinamide

Adds water-phase support for brighter-looking tone and barrier-focused product briefs.

Dual-phase brightening emulsion or serum cream.

Place niacinamide in the water phase; validate pH, color, odor and long-term stability.

Ceramide Complex

Broadens the concept toward lipid replenishment and barrier-support skincare.

Barrier-support moisturizer with vitamin C derivative.

Use the ceramide supplier's phase and carrier instructions; validate emulsion structure and sensory.

Alpha-Arbutin

Adds a complementary water-phase ingredient for even-tone formulation concepts.

Targeted brightening emulsion serum.

Control water-phase pH and heat exposure; confirm both actives against their grade-specific requirements.

Scientific Evidence Snapshot

THD Ascorbate is an oil-soluble vitamin C ester used as an antioxidant and skin-conditioning ingredient in cosmetics [R2]. A small double-blind half-face study evaluated an anhydrous system containing both 10% ascorbic acid and 7% THD Ascorbate and reported improvement in photoaged-skin appearance after 12 weeks[R7].

More recent studies have evaluated THD Ascorbate with acetyl zingerone. Laboratory work found that oxidative stress can degrade THD Ascorbate and that acetyl zingerone improved stability in the tested system [R6]. A 12-week open-label serum study reported improvements in pigmentation, fine lines, smoothness, firmness and elasticity [R8].
